The Grey Group

The Grey group studies the nature of solid state materials by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), X-ray and Neutron scattering, electron microscopy and computational calculations. The materials we investigate have applications in supercapacitors, fuel cells, and batteries. 

Our current research projects are described here and a full list of publications is available here. We currently have 52 group members including 23 PhD students (13 of whom are co-supervised by another PI) and 17 Post-Doctoral researchers all listed here. The group is very dynamic and also very international with nearly 20 nationalities represented.

News

  • October 2026: The group welcomes several new starters and visitors for the academic year, including new PhD students Anna Buxo, Eliza Harris and Victoria Hawkins, returning masters students/visitors who are starting their PhDs, Floris de Leeuw, Ilayda Ayyildiz and Ryusei Morimoto, visiting student Luca Comparetto and Part III students James, Yulin, Vatsal, Jay, Alan and Conner!
